How much does a custom watercolor cost?
The price of a custom painting is determined by several factors: size, number of subjects (i.e. dog, person, building etc), and overall complexity. Because there are so many variables to consider, I do not have a set price list. Once I see the pictures I offer clients several different price options based on size and send cropped images to help them visualize the different dimensions.
How long does a painting take to complete?
The amount of time it takes to complete a painting depends on the painting and the time of year. Holidays are very busy but I do try to accommodate everyone’s deadline. I usually require a minimum of two weeks to complete a standard sized piece. Please let me know if you’re in a rush!
How does it work?
I paint from pictures you provide and I always ask that you send multiple pictures to chose from. Even if your heart is set on a certain picture to use as the portrait, having multiple pictures better informs me of the particular features of a pet or person. Also, the higher the quality the picture, the better. If you have a great Instagram photo, please send me the original picture, not the reduced quality Instagram version.
Once we decide together on a picture, a size and a price, I will update you throughout the process until the painting is completed.
What sizes do you offer?
I can paint something as small as 5”x7” up to something as large as you’d like. If you would like something extraordinarily large a custom paper order will be necessary and added to the total cost of the piece. Common sizes are 8”x10”, 11”x14” and 16”x20”. Note: Architectural paintings of homes or buildings often require unusual dimensions depending on the building layout.
Can you blend multiple pictures together?
Yes, but I don’t like to. I understand there are times when getting two people or pets in one portrait isn’t possible (like when one has passed away) but I much prefer painting from one picture instead of two. This ensures the integrity of the lighting and perspective and keeps the painting cohesive.
CAN YOU SHIP THE PAINTING?
Yes, I can ship the painting and will add shipping cost to the total.
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE IT?
I never want to sell you something you don’t like. I pride myself on creating something beyond your highest expectations and if I fall short of that, please tell me. That being said, I do not offer unlimited edits at no cost. Watercolor is a very unforgiving medium and clients should understand that making changes to a piece is not usually possible and requires an entirely new painting.
I do my best to understand the client’s vision before starting a painting so that I can confidently create something you will love.
DO YOU SELL PRINTS?
Yes, I have some prints of my work available for sale and I am also able to create prints from your custom order. I retain the sole rights to the reproduction of my work and I do not allow my work to be copied and reprinted by anyone other than myself. I am happy to accommodate all your printing needs.
